This Sheraton desk is made exactly from the original design and description in Thomas Sheraton's (The cabinet-marker and upholsterer's drawing book) from 1793. Made from satin wood, the internal mechanism makes the cylinder to rise up when the slider is pulled out. The lock in the centre draw pushes a bolt up into the slider which locks the slider and the cylinder. Two carved flowers in the doors are gold leaf. the fitted interior has nine draws and four pigeonholes. The outer draws are beaded and the legs have indent carving. Finished with French polish and a fret work brass freeze on the top. £ 1'250.00 sold
I have seen two full size pieces similar to this, but I haven't seen one made exactly to the original plans.
